Accessing our Inner Resources

The way through our walls of defense is to allow the sensations and feelings of hurt, pain, discomfort, and distress as it arises in our body in the present moment. To be present with them instead of trying to escape from them by all manner of avoidance, denial, and distraction strategies that we have developed from an early age.

In our sessions together you will be guided to explore and inquire into how you feel and experience yourself. Learning to be fully in touch with your feelings in this way helps develop the immensely valuable resource of being aware of the ongoing moment.

From this awareness, greater knowledge and understanding of yourself will develop. The continuing process of self-knowledge, now with the added awareness of the sensations and feelings involved, allows other relevant and related aspects of yourself to appear and develop. Expanding an ongoing process of self-discovery.

This happens naturally and spontaneously as a consequence of looking at the truth of your experience. Your natural resources are gradually freed from being trapped behind your defensive walls and can assume their rightful place at the conscious center of your life.

You begin to develop a resource repertoire to handle the situations and relationships that you encounter outside of the therapy room, which can then becomes an increasing source of empowerment and self-confidence.
